ISLAMABAD: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the latest entry in the long-running first-person shooter franchise, is set to launch on November 14 this year with a multiplayer beta scheduled to begin on October 2.

The new game, developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, promises to blend classic gameplay elements with fresh innovations aimed at both casual players and the highly competitive esports crowd.

New and classic Modes in multiplayer beta
The multiplayer beta will feature several well-known game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint, alongside a new mode titled Overload.

Overload is a 6v6 objective-based mode where teams will compete to gain possession of a single Overload Device and escort it into enemy-controlled zones to score points.

The device changes hands often, creating a dynamic “push and pull” gameplay experience with a focus on teamwork and strategic positioning. At halftime, teams switch sides to maintain balance.

Traditional fan-favourite modes will continue beyond the beta, including Search and Destroy, Free-For-All, Control, Gunfight, and Kill Order. There will also be Face Off modes which disable scorestreak benefits and focus on more contained, run-and-gun combat for faster, intense matches.

Skirmish modes with large 20v20 battles will also be available, incorporating vehicles, advanced traversal mechanics such as wingsuits and grappling hooks, and expansive maps.

Maps and gameplay innovations
Black Ops 7’s multiplayer will launch with sixteen core 6v6 maps and two large-scale 20v20 Skirmish maps. The beta will provide access to five maps—Blackheart, Cortex, Exposure, Imprint, and The Forge—featuring locations such as offshore oil rigs, research labs, urban environments, and robotics complexes.

Several classic maps from Black Ops 2, including Express, Hijacked, and Raid, are also returning with updated designs for the game’s near-future 2035 setting.

The game will introduce an improved movement system called Omnimovement, which will allow players to wall jump, climb, and slide fluidly, adding verticality and speed to combat encounters.

Players can customize their loadouts with a new Overclock system that lets them improve tactical and lethal equipment, field upgrades, and scorestreaks mid-match.

Upcoming events and broader content
Further detail on Black Ops 7’s Zombies mode, including a new map inspired by the fan-favourite TranZit experience, will be revealed during the Call of Duty NEXT event on September 30.

The event will also reveal additional multiplayer content, weapons, perks, and integration with Call of Duty: Warzone, the franchise’s free-to-play battle royale ‘offering’.

The beta is available from October 2 for pre-order customers, expanding to all players from October 5, across all major platforms including PC and consoles
