ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday stated that it “precisely” targeted military installations and terrorist support infrastructure in overnight strikes in Kabul and Nangarhar provinces of Afghanistan.

In a statement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s fact-checker said the operation targeted sites including technical equipment storage and ammunition depots of the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij in Kabul and Nangarhar that were being used against innocent Pakistani civilians.

The statement comes in response to the earlier claims by Afghan interim spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, stating that the strikes targeted the rehabilitation center in Kabul.

The ministry added that the post-strike detonation of stored ammunition being used by a “master terror proxy” also fully contradicts the fake claim.

Pakistan’s targeting is “precise and carefully” undertaken to ensure no collateral damage is inflicted, the statement said.

It stated that the “misreporting of facts” portraying the site as a drug rehabilitation facility seeks to “stir sentiments” and cover illegitimate support for cross-border terrorism.

“The statement is rejected as being false and misleading”, it added.

In Nangarhar, Pakistan’s armed forces also struck four Afghan Taliban regime military sites used to support militant activity, destroying associated logistics, ammunition, and technical infrastructure, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said in a post on X.

Kandahar terrorist infrastructure

The recent strikes precede the earlier strikes last week, when Pakistan’s armed forces carried out overnight strikes on terrorist hideouts and military infrastructure in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province.

The strikes targeted facilities used by the Afghan Taliban and affiliated terrorist groups to support attacks against Pakistani civilians, according to the sources.

"Pakistan's Armed Forces have successfully targeted military installations, including terrorist hideouts of Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij,” security sources said.

Pakistani forces destroyed technical support infrastructure and an equipment storage facility in Kandahar that sources said had been used to facilitate cross-border terrorist activities.

“In these attacks, Pakistani forces effectively destroyed technical support infrastructure and equipment storage facilities in Kandahar that were being used by the Afghan Taliban and terrorists against innocent Pakistani civilians,” the sources said.

In a separate strike during the same night, Pakistani forces also targeted a tunnel in Kandahar that housed technical equipment used by the Afghan Taliban and terrorist networks.

“Pakistan Armed Forces successfully targeted a tunnel in Kandahar that housed technical equipment of Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij,” the sources said.

The strikes mark the latest phase of Pakistan’s retaliatory campaign, which officials say focuses on dismantling terrorist camps, logistical hubs, and infrastructure used to support attacks inside Pakistan.

Security officials say the operation has intensified in recent days as tensions rise along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Pakistani authorities maintain that the campaign is aimed solely at terrorist infrastructure and support networks responsible for cross-border attacks, while emphasizing that operations will continue until Pakistan’s security concerns are addressed.
