CAPE TOWN: South African authorities arrested a 28-year-old man whom they caught trafficking 150 venomous scorpions through Cape Town airport, police said on Saturday. The man had concealed the live arachnids between his clothing inside his luggage, police said. His arrest on Friday followed an intelligence operation in which officers circulated his description before intercepting him at the airport. &quot;He was arrested under the Nature and Environmental Ordinance Act, being in possession of a wild animal,&quot; police said in a statement, without naming the man. He is expected to appear in court on Monday. Investigators did not disclose his intended destination. The scorpions have been handed over to a wildlife facility for safekeeping, while officials assess their market value. Wildlife trafficking remains a major threat in South Africa, one of the world&#39;s most biodiverse countries. Crime syndicates target iconic species such as rhinos and elephants, but also lesser‑known creatures including pangolins and reptiles, feeding a lucrative global black market.

ISLAMABAD: Japanese auto giant Toyota forecast Friday a 22% fall in net profit in the year to next March, as it battles the effects of US tariffs. The world&#39;s largest automaker by vehicle sales made the announcement as it revealed net profit fell 19.2% to 3.8 trillion yen ($25 billion) in the 2025-26 fiscal year. &quot;Despite the impact of US tariffs we secured profits consistent with our guidance due to increased vehicle sales volumes and the effects of price revisions underpinned by strong product competitiveness, as well as steadily accumulated improvement efforts such as expanded value chain revenues,&quot; Toyota said in a statement. Revenues last fiscal year rose 5.5% to 50.7 trillion yen, and for the current period it projected them to hit 51.0 trillion yen.

WASHINGTON: Toyota is recalling nearly 400,000 vehicles because the rearview camera may not display when backing up, increasing the risk of a crash, federal traffic safety regulators said. Included in the recall are 2022-2025 Toyota Tundras and Tundra hybrids and 2023-2025 Sequoia hybrids. The number of automobiles in the recall total 393,838, with the non-hybrid Tundra making up more than half of them. The camera display malfunction is caused by a software problem, which will be fixed with an update by dealerships free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 16. Owners can contact Toyota&rsquo;s customer service at 1-800-331-4331. The numbers for the recall are 25TB10 and 25TA10.
