ISLAMABAD: A vibrant celebration of Pakistan’s artistic and cultural heritage unfolded in Dubai on Saturday with the opening of the Pakistani Art and Culture Festival at the Dubai International Art Centre.

According to a press release by the Press Information Department, the festival was inaugurated by Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, alongside Muhammad Saleh, Press Counsellor at the Consulate.

The event brings together artists, cultural enthusiasts, and members of the Pakistani community.

The Consul General praised the organizers for creating a platform that brings Pakistan's artistic traditions to an international audience, noting how Dubai's multicultural landscape provides the perfect backdrop for such cross-cultural exchanges.

"Art serves as an important instrument of soft diplomacy," he said, emphasizing how creative expression helps build bridges between communities and showcases Pakistan's positive image on the global stage.

The festival is the brainchild of four Pakistani artists — Soobika Fawad, Afsheen Beig, Dr Anum Ali, and Alia Amin — who share a passion for presenting their homeland's cultural wealth beyond its borders. Their curated exhibition blends traditional artistic influences with contemporary expressions, all rooted in Pakistani identity and craftsmanship.

Beyond visual art, the festival also features cultural vendors showcasing traditional Pakistani clothing, jewelry, and handcrafted creations. Visitors can explore items such as truck art–inspired pieces, pottery, and other artisanal works.

Reaffirming the Consulate’s commitment, the Consul General assured continued support for initiatives that promote cultural dialogue between Pakistan, the UAE, and the broader international community.
