ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday lauded outgoing Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki for his contribution to strengthening the deep-rooted fraternal and strategic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The prime minister made the remarks during a farewell call by Ambassador Al-Malki at the Prime Minister's House in Islamabad following the completion of his official tenure in Pakistan, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.
Al-Malki has served as Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Pakistan since 2017, overseeing a period of expanding cooperation between the two countries across political, economic, trade, defence and security spheres. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have also deepened their strategic partnership in recent years, including through high-level engagements and defence cooperation.
Sharif congratulated the Saudi envoy on the successful completion of his assignment and appreciated his role in further deepening bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.
The prime minister also conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
He reaffirmed Pakistan's appreciation for Saudi Arabia's steadfast support and assistance, as well as the Kingdom's role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
Ambassador Al-Malki thanked the prime minister and the government of Pakistan for the warmth, cooperation and hospitality extended to him during his tenure.
He described his stay in Pakistan as a memorable and rewarding experience and reaffirmed his commitment to the continued strengthening of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations.
The prime minister wished the outgoing ambassador success in his future endeavors.
