ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, met with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg to discuss the latest developments in Yemen and ongoing efforts to advance the peace process, according to a statement by Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN, released Thursday.
During the meeting, Iftikhar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for a Yemeni-led, Yemeni-owned and United Nations-facilitated political process aimed at achieving a comprehensive and sustainable peace in Yemen.
He commended Grundberg’s continued efforts to promote dialogue among Yemeni stakeholders and reduce tensions amid the fragile security situation.
Grundberg, for his part, expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive engagement and consistent support for the UN-led peace process, particularly in its role as a member of the UN Security Council.
The two officials also exchanged views on recent developments in Yemen and underscored the importance of sustaining diplomatic efforts to advance peace and stability in the country.
