Pakistan, Sri Lanka to boost IT, trade, and industrial cooperation

ISLAMABAD: At the 13th Joint Economic Commission in Colombo, Pakistan and Sri Lanka agreed to strengthen bilateral ties, notably establishing a Joint Working Group on IT and digital economy.


Pakistan and Sri Lanka reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors of mutual interest, state-run Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday.


Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Haroon Akhtar Khan, led the Pakistani delegation.

Key outcome 

A key outcome of the session was the decision to establish a Joint Working Group on IT and Digital Economy, reflecting both countries' resolve to collaborate in emerging technologies and digital transformation.


Discussions were held on expanding industrial collaboration and increasing bilateral trade in diverse sectors, including pharmaceutical, Small and Medium Enterprises, agriculture, livestock, higher education, health, science and technology.
