ISLAMABAD: US president Donald Trump has claimed that many documents issued during former President Joe Biden’s time in office were signed using an autopen without proper approval.

In a post on Truth Social, the US president stated that “around 92 percent” of Biden-era documents were signed by staff through the device, arguing that they should be considered void. He also alleged that Biden “was not involved in the autopen process,” and warned that any claim to the contrary would amount to perjury.

He accused Biden’s aides of misusing the signing procedure and said he would cancel any executive orders or directives that he believes were not personally signed by Biden.

There has been no official response from US authorities, and Trump’s claims have not been independently confirmed. The autopen has long been used by American presidents for routine paperwork.

Biden has rejected claims of any wrongdoing, saying all decisions during his administration were made by him and dismissing accusations from Republicans as false.

Trump has repeatedly raised questions about Biden’s use of the autopen. Earlier this year, he argued that documents signed through the device showed Biden was not fully in control of the presidency and that such actions were “null and void.”
