ISLAMABAD: Governments and diplomatic missions across the world on Sunday strongly condemned the&nbsp;<a href="https://pakistantv.com/article/pakistan-pm-condemns-explosion-in-quetta-vows-to-eliminate-terrorism" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">deadly terrorist attack</a>&nbsp;targeting a passenger train near Chaman Phatak in southwestern Quetta, as Pakistan&rsquo;s leadership vowed strong action against terrorists and their facilitators following one of the deadliest attacks in Balochistan in recent months. The suicide bombing near the railway track martyred more than 20 people and injured dozens of others after an explosives-laden vehicle detonated as a passenger train passed through the area. Pakistani authorities said innocent civilians, including women and children, were among the victims. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the bombing as a &ldquo;heinous&rdquo; and &ldquo;cowardly act of terrorism,&rdquo; saying such attacks could not weaken the resolve of the Pakistani people. &ldquo;We remain steadfast in our determination to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,&rdquo; the prime minister said, expressing condolences to the families of victims and solidarity with the people of Balochistan. Naqvi said the &ldquo;beastly terrorists&rdquo; had shown &ldquo;extreme brutality&rdquo; by targeting innocent civilians, while Bugti vowed that terrorists linked to &ldquo;Fitna al-Hindustan&rdquo; would be brought to their &ldquo;logical end.&rdquo; Fitna al-Hindustan refers to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and affiliated terrorist groups. These networks operate with Indian sponsorship to destabilize Balochistan and undermine Pakistan&rsquo;s peace, security and development. Authorities say these groups are not political actors but foreign-backed terrorist organizations involved in attacks on civilians, security forces, and public infrastructure, including projects linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The international community also responded with strong condemnations and messages of solidarity with Pakistan. The United States Embassy in Islamabad condemned the attack &ldquo;in the strongest terms,&rdquo; noting that the banned BLA, designated by Washington as a &ldquo;Foreign Terrorist Organization&rdquo;, had claimed responsibility. &ldquo;The people of Pakistan deserve to live in security and peace, free from the threat of terrorist violence,&rdquo; the embassy said. UK High Commissioner Jane Marriott said she was &ldquo;absolutely appalled&rdquo; by the &ldquo;cowardly terrorist attack&rdquo; in Quetta and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan said Beijing &ldquo;firmly opposes any form of terrorism&rdquo; and would continue supporting Pakistan in combating terrorism and protecting public safety. &ldquo;We stand firmly with our Pakistani brothers and sisters at this moment,&rdquo; the embassy said in a statement. The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan condemned the &ldquo;heinous terrorist attack&rdquo; and reaffirmed solidarity with Pakistan. It said that such acts &ldquo;must be unequivocally rejected in all their forms and manifestations.&rdquo; The Russian Embassy in Pakistan expressed hope that those responsible for the attack would be identified and brought to justice, while T&uuml;rkiye&rsquo;s Foreign Ministry called the attack &ldquo;utterly unacceptable&rdquo; and reiterated Ankara&rsquo;s solidarity with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane said Australia stood with the people of Pakistan during the difficult time, extending condolences to the victims&rsquo; families and wishing a quick recovery to the injured. Iran&rsquo;s Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam strongly condemned the &ldquo;cowardly and heinous suicide terrorist act.&rdquo; He called attacks on civilian transportation infrastructure &ldquo;crimes against humanity.&rdquo; From Bangladesh, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also condemned the attack. He said Bangladesh stood in solidarity with Pakistan and &ldquo;vehemently condemns terrorism and violence in all forms.&rdquo; Afghanistan&rsquo;s Foreign Ministry additionally condemned the attack in Quetta, stating that civilian casualties &ldquo;in any form and by any side&rdquo; were condemnable. Pakistani authorities said investigations and security operations were continuing following the attack, which also caused extensive damage to railway infrastructure, nearby buildings, and vehicles. Officials stated that the country&rsquo;s counterterrorism campaign would continue with full resolve to ensure peace, stability and national security.

ISLAMABAD: The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Tuesday condemned the &ldquo;heinous and cowardly&rdquo; coordinated <a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/balochistan-cm-vows-wont-surrender-even-an-inch-after-coordinated-attacks" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">terrorist attacks</a>&nbsp;in Pakistan&rsquo;s Balochistan province.&nbsp; Pakistan has faced a renewed&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/pakistan-reaffirms-resolve-after-security-forces-kill-108-indianbacked-terrorists" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">surge</a> in militant violence in recent years, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, following the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan&rsquo;s (TTP) decision to end its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.&nbsp; Last week&rsquo;s coordinated assaults, claimed by Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), left 17 security personnel martyred and 31 civilians dead.&nbsp; Consequently, Pakistani security forces, in counter terrorism operations, eliminated 177 terrorists, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif told the National Assembly. In a press statement issued today by Council President James Kariuki, the members of the UNSC expressed their &ldquo;deepest sympathy and condolences,&rdquo; wishing a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured. &ldquo;The members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security,&rdquo; the statement shared by Pakistan&rsquo;s permanent mission to the UN said. The members underline the need &ldquo;to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable,&rdquo; bringing them to justice. They also urged all states to cooperate actively with the Pakistani government.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever, and by whomsoever committed,&rdquo; the statement said, reaffirming the need for all to combat threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts. Several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, etc., have separately <a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/condemnations-pour-in-for-pakistan-as-security-forces-kill-another-22-indianbacked-militants" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">condemned</a> the attacks, expressing solidarity with Pakistan. BLA is listed as a terrorist organization by Pakistan, China, Iran, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union.

Pakistan has faced a renewed&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/pakistan-reaffirms-resolve-after-security-forces-kill-108-indianbacked-terrorists" style="color:#0073e6;">surge</a>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/balochistan-cm-vows-wont-surrender-even-an-inch-after-coordinated-attacks" style="color:#0073e6;">militant violence</a>&nbsp;in recent years, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan&rsquo;s (TTP) decision to end its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. Speaking after the attacks, Naqvi said the violence was not the work of &ldquo;ordinary militants&rdquo; but was orchestrated with external backing. &ldquo;India is behind these attacks,&rdquo; the interior minister said, adding that the militants received financial, planning, and operational support. He vowed Pakistan would pursue all those involved, including facilitators and planners, and expose them &ldquo;before the world.&rdquo; As news of the expanded operations emerged, governments and international organizations issued fresh statements condemning the violence and expressing solidarity with Pakistan. The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad said it &ldquo;deeply mourns the lives lost&rdquo; in the attacks and extended condolences to the families of victims and the injured. &ldquo;China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism and will continue to support Pakistan in fighting terrorism, maintaining social stability, and keeping its people safe,&rdquo; the embassy said. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reiterated its principal rejection of what it described as &ldquo;terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,&rdquo; affirming solidarity with Pakistan and support for its efforts to safeguard security and territorial integrity. The European Union (EU) also condemned the attacks, saying it &ldquo;unequivocally rejects terrorism in all its forms and stands with Pakistan.&rdquo; &ldquo;Our deepest condolences go to the families of civilians and security personnel affected by the recent attacks in Balochistan, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured,&rdquo; the EU said. France said it stood in solidarity with Pakistan against &ldquo;terrorism in all its forms,&rdquo; while the Russian Embassy emphasized the need to &ldquo;combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.&rdquo; &ldquo;We hope those responsible for these heinous acts will be identified and brought to justice,&rdquo; the Russian statement said. Azerbaijan reaffirmed its &ldquo;firm support for international efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,&rdquo; expressing solidarity with Pakistan. Canada, the Maldives, and Sweden also conveyed condolences and support. Earlier, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, T&uuml;rkiye, Qatar, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States had similarly denounced the Balochistan attacks. Pakistani authorities classify TTP and BLA as &ldquo;khawarij,&rdquo; a term rooted in early Islamic history that Pakistani officials use to describe extremist groups that reject legitimate authority and target civilians and state institutions. Officials said counterterrorism operations remain ongoing, with security forces maintaining heightened vigilance across affected areas.

World condemns Balochistan terror attacks

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces have killed at least 145 terrorists during nearly 40 hours of intelligence-based operations across southwestern Balochistan following coordinated&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/pakistan-reaffirms-resolve-after-security-forces-kill-108-indianbacked-terrorists" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">attacks</a>&nbsp;by the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), provincial authorities confirmed on Sunday. Addressing a press conference in Quetta, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti&nbsp;<a href="https://www.radio.gov.pk/01-02-2026/no-place-for-terrorists-in-balochistan-cm-sarfraz" target="_blank" style="color:#0073e6;" rel="noopener noreferrer">said</a>&nbsp;militants carried out simultaneous attacks in 12 towns, including the provincial capital, resulting in the martyrdom of 17 security personnel and the killing of 31 civilians. &ldquo;The bodies of 145 terrorists are in the custody of the authorities,&rdquo; Bugti said, adding that intelligence agencies had received advance warnings of the attacks, prompting pre-emptive operations a day earlier. Bugti said Nushki has been completely cleared and confirmed that militants failed to breach sensitive areas, including the Red Zone. He said that in Gwadar, terrorists killed five women and three children from a Baloch family belonging to Khuzdar and also targeted a labor colony. &ldquo;Why are Baloch people being turned into fuel for violence at India&rsquo;s behest?&rdquo; Bugti asked. Rejecting calls for dialogue with the BLA, he said the group was not a political entity. &ldquo;Is the BLA a registered political party that talks can be held with it?&rdquo; he asked, stating that the group sought to impose its ideology through violence. Reaffirming the state&rsquo;s resolve, Bugti declared: &ldquo;We will not surrender. They may try to destabilize us, but they cannot take a single inch of our country.&rdquo; &ldquo;Our blood is not cheap,&rdquo; he added, warning that the land would be &ldquo;turned into hell for terrorists.&rdquo; Bugti rejected claims of indiscriminate force, saying the operations were limited and intelligence-based, and that heavy firepower was deliberately avoided to prevent civilian casualties. He described Balochistan as a conflict zone and said Pakistan was fighting India&rsquo;s proxy networks, vowing that the state was prepared to continue the fight &ldquo;for a thousand years if required&rdquo; to restore peace. Separately, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said coordinated attacks were launched on Saturday at 12 locations across Balochistan in an attempt to cause mass casualties and offset recent losses suffered by the BLA and its affiliates. Addressing a press conference in the eastern city of Sialkot, Asif said the attacks reflected &ldquo;two sides of the same coins, India and the BLA.&rdquo; &ldquo;The BLA is operating as an Indian proxy,&rdquo; he said, adding that intelligence reports and confessional statements from arrested militants clearly traced the links of the attacks back to India. He said suicide attacks were attempted on Frontier Corps headquarters in Nushki and Dalbandin, while multiple other locations were targeted simultaneously. &ldquo;Due to timely action by security forces, all attempts were foiled,&rdquo; he said, confirming that 11 security personnel were martyred during recent engagements and that over 100 militants had been killed in the past two days, with the toll expected to rise. Asif expressed grave concern over the exploitation of women and children by terrorist groups, saying vulnerable populations were being systematically radicalized. He said Pakistan was fighting a decisive war against the BLA and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and warned that facilitators of terrorism would face the same fate as militants. &ldquo;The fight against terrorism transcends political differences,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Loyalty is to the nation and the soil alone.&rdquo; Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar strongly condemned what he described as &ldquo;cowardly and heinous coordinated terrorist attacks&rdquo; in Balochistan. &ldquo;These attacks were aimed at undermining the safety and security of our people and the stability of the province and Pakistan,&rdquo; Dar said. He praised the response of the security forces, stating, &ldquo;Pakistan&rsquo;s Armed Forces, Frontier Corps, Police and Law Enforcement Agencies responded with exemplary courage and professionalism, neutralizing the terrorists and protecting civilian lives.&rdquo; &ldquo;We pay profound tribute to the Shuhada whose supreme sacrifices will forever remain a source of strength and pride for the nation,&rdquo; Dar added, reaffirming Pakistan&rsquo;s &ldquo;zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms.&rdquo; The international community continued to condemn the attacks following Saturday&rsquo;s violence. Norway strongly denounced the terrorist attacks in Balochistan, extending its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims. The United Arab Emirates, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned the attacks &ldquo;in the strongest terms,&rdquo; reaffirming its rejection of violence, extremism, and terrorism, and expressing sincere condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the government and people of Pakistan. The United States Embassy in Islamabad also strongly condemned the January 31 attacks, claimed by the BLA, a US-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. &ldquo;On behalf of the United States, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims of terrorism, their families, and all those affected,&rdquo; US Charg&eacute; d&rsquo;Affaires Natalie Baker said. Earlier, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, T&uuml;rkiye, Qatar, and the United States had also denounced the attacks.
