ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC hosted the Diplomatic Trionda Cup 2026, celebrating football, friendship, diplomacy and Pakistan&rsquo;s sporting legacy ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The friendly soccer tournament was held just three hours before the official opening ceremony of the World Cup, bringing together diplomats, senior US officials and football enthusiasts in a display of unity and sportsmanship, according to a post shared by the embassy on X on Friday. The event was also part of the ongoing commemorations marking the Semiquincentennial (250th) anniversary of the United States. At the same time, it highlighted Pakistan&rsquo;s contribution to the global sporting goods industry through Trionda, a premium football manufactured in Pakistan and being used for the World Cup.
