But this bunny wasn&rsquo;t just cute &mdash; it was actually believed to judge children, deciding who had been good or bad before giving out colorful eggs, kind of like a springtime Santa. And why eggs? During the 40 days of Lent, people weren&rsquo;t allowed to eat eggs. So they boiled them to keep them from spoiling, then decorated them to celebrate when the fasting period finally ended.
