ISLAMABAD: Operation Shaban in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan entered its eighth day on Monday, as forces killed another three terrorists, according to security sources.
Many of the terrorists have fled their hide-outs in the Shaban area of Balochistan, leaving behind a large quantity of arms and ammunition.
With the latest three casualties, the total number of terrorists killed in Operation Shaban has risen to 79.
Pakistan’s security forces, including the army, Frontier Corps and police, jointly launched Operation Shaban on July 5 and have been conducting effective strikes on terrorists' hideouts.
Sources said that the security forces are undertaking land and aerial offensives against the "khwarij," a term Pakistan uses for foreign-funded terrorists.
Besides Operation Shaban, other operations are also underway against terrorists in Balochistan since July 5, and have collectively resulted in the killing of 117 terrorists.
