ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir visited the country's largest defense manufacturing facility to assess weapons production and export readiness, the military’s media wing stated Saturday.
In an official statement the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the field marshal visited the state-owned Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF) in Wah, a city 40 kilometers from the capital.
The ISPR stated that the CDF visited the nation's largest defense industrial complex to evaluate production capabilities and export potential. The field marshal reviewed how the facility strengthens national defense through the local manufacture of various military gear.
During the visit, the CDF watched tests of locally made arms and ammunition. The ISPR stated these trials show a drive for innovation and self-reliance in Pakistan's defense production.
He also received an update on the corporatization of the factory under the DIPRA Ordinance. The June 2026 law created the Defense Industrial Production and Regulatory Authority to centralize and streamline Pakistan's defense manufacturing..
The military's media wing also stated that two new industrial plants are expected to start production by the end of the year.
