ISLAMABAD: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will begin a two-day official visit to Pakistan on Dec. 8 at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Foreign Office said on Sunday.
This will be President Subianto's first visit to Pakistan, and the first presidential trip from Indonesia since 2018.
The visit also marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. A high-level delegation, including key ministers and senior officials, will accompany him.
According to the foreign office, President Subianto will hold delegation-level talks with the prime minister and separately meet President Asif Ali Zardari. Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, will also call on the visiting leader.
Both sides will take up a broad agenda to expand political, economic, and security cooperation. Areas of focus include trade and investment, defense collaboration, health, information technology, climate resilience, education, and cultural exchanges. Several memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed during the visit.
The foreign office said Pakistan and Indonesia enjoy close and longstanding ties rooted in shared values and mutual interests.
The visit is expected to deepen bilateral cooperation and help steer partnership efforts at regional and multilateral forums.
