Iran suspends flights at Tehran international airport: local media

Tehran's international airport suspended all incoming flights after Iranian missile strikes on Israel, local media said Sunday.

"The civil aviation authority announced the suspension of all flights bound for the airport until further notice," said Iranian press agency Mehr -- the latest closure for Khomeini International Airport, one of two serving the capital, which had only re-opened in April after being shut for weeks over the Middle East war.

Iran FM speaks to European, regional counterparts: ministry

Iran's top diplomat Abbas Araghchi discussed the latest events in the region on Sunday night with his counterparts in Britain, France, and Turkey, as well as with Qatar's leader and Pakistani mediators.

Iraq, Syria close airspace as tensions rise

Iraq and Syria closed their airspace as a safety precaution on Sunday after Israel claimed that Iran launched missiles towards it.

In a brief statement, the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority reported the closure of Iraqi airspace for 72 hours. Syria's authority closed the country's "southern air corridors" for 12 hours.

US President Donald Trump said Sunday he will call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to urge him not to retaliate against alleged Iranian missile strikes on Israel, news outlet Axios reported.

"I am going to call Bibi right now and tell him not to retaliate," Trump was quoted as saying by Axios journalist Barak Ravid in a phone interview, using the Israeli leader's nickname.

"Each of them had their fun. Israel had its strike and Iran had its strike. We don't need another one," Trump said, according to excerpts of which Ravid posted on X.

Iran closes airspace over country's west: report

Iran closed the airspace over the west of the country., spokesman for the National Civil Aviation Organization said in a statement carried by the news agency IRNA.

"Due to safety and security assessments... the western part of the country's airspace was declared closed until further notice," said Majid Akhavan.

Iran says Israel's Beirut strike 'crossed all red lines'

Iran's military central command said that Israel's latest strike on the southern Beirut suburbs had "crossed all red lines,” demanding a halt to its campaign in Lebanon.

"The Israeli army must stop its attacks on southern Lebanon and the suburbs, and if it expands its attacks to that region or responds to Iran's action, it will face more devastating and regrettable blows," said General Ali Abollahi, the head of the Khatam al-Anbiya command.

Hezbollah confirms it attacked target in northern Israel

Hezbollah said it had launched a drone at an army post in northern Israel on Sunday, confirming an attack hours after Israel said it had struck Beirut in retaliation for cross-border fire.

In a statement, the group said that "in response to the Israeli enemy's violation of the ceasefire and the attacks that struck villages in southern Lebanon... the fighters of the Islamic Resistance targeted, at 9:30 AM on Sunday, June 7, 2026, a gathering of Israeli enemy soldiers at Dovev Barracks".

Iran threatens US interests, Israel after Beirut strike

Iran's chief negotiator warned that an Israeli strike on south Beirut and the ongoing US blockade of Iranian ports would trigger retaliation.

In a social media post, parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused Washington of giving Israel the "green light" for strikes that hit two targets in the Lebanese capital.

This and the blockade, he said, "turns the bases and assets of America and the (Israeli) regime in the region into legitimate targets. Our armed forces, as always, are free to act."

Trump says won't unfreeze Iran assets before deal

US President Donald Trump said in an interview broadcast that he will not unfreeze Iranian assets before reaching an agreement with Tehran.

Asked whether he would be willing, as part of a potential agreement, to unfreeze Iranian assets or lift certain sanctions against Iran, Trump replied: "No."

"(That) comes after. If they behave, if they do a good job, we start talking," he said in the interview with NBC, recorded Friday.

"If we make a deal, if we make a deal now we're friendly, we'll all go together" to recover this uranium, he said. "We'll take it out and destroy it."

Washington says ‘great deal’ between Iran, US ‘likely coming soon’

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that even though “a great deal” between Iran and the United States is “likely coming soon,” the Department of War was ready to do “what needs to be done to ensure that Iran never gets a nuclear weapon” if negotiations fail.

While speaking to journalists, Hegseth said there was a ceasefire between US and Iran and President Donald Trump was “very clear on it.” 

However, he said, “Things can happen intermittently during that.”

The president is committed to getting a great deal for the United States of America that ensures they never get a nuclear weapon,” he said.

Hegseth added that shipping was moving through and that the US was prepared to counter Iranian aggression if any. 

“But ultimately, we think a deal, a great deal. It's likely coming soon. So, thank you very much for traveling with us.”

US President Donald Trump called for more "surgical" strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon in an interview broadcast.

"I'd like to see Lebanon have a better life. I'd like to see a more surgical attack on Hezbollah. I think it should be more surgical," Trump said, according to a transcript of the interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," recorded Friday.

Gaza civil defense says Israeli airstrike on police station kills five

Gaza's civil defense service said an Israeli airstrike on a police station killed at least five people on Sunday and wounded several, as violence raged unabated across the Palestinian territory.

Israel and Hamas continue to trade accusations of near-daily ceasefire violations, keeping the Gaza Strip locked in bloodshed months after a truce took effect in October.

"We just transported four martyrs and more than 17 wounded following an Israeli airstrike that targeted a police station in the Al-Noss area of Al-Mawasi district in western Khan Yunis," the civil defence agency, which operates as a rescue force under Hamas, said in a statement.

Israel's military struck terrorist command centres in Beirut's southern suburbs, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said Sunday.

"In accordance with the directives of Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz, the Israel Defense Forces have just struck a command centre in Beirut's Dahiyeh district, in response to Hezbollah's fire towards Israeli territory," his office said.

Israel army strikes Lebanon as two projectiles intercepted

Israel's military said it intercepted two projectiles launched from Lebanon into Israeli territory, as it carried out more strikes on Lebanon despite an ongoing truce.

The military later issued an evacuation warning for most of the southern Lebanese city of Tyre and its surroundings.

"Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in the areas of Yiftah and Ramot Naftali, two projectiles that crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory were intercepted," the military said.

It later said it "dismantled the launchers used by Hezbollah terrorists to carry out the attack".

Over 1,100 Palestinians killed, 12,200 wounded in occupied West Bank since Oct. 7

Since October 7, 2023, at least 1,173 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, including 244 children, while more than 12,200 others have sustained injuries, according to Al Jazeera.

In 2026, 68 Palestinians have been killed so far, with 17 of those deaths attributed to Israeli settlers.

More than 23,000 Palestinians have been detained since the war began. 

As of June 1, 9,361 Palestinians were being held in Israeli prisons, including 3,386 detainees held without formal charges. 

Israeli authorities have also reported that 89 Palestinian prisoners have died while in custody.

One person killed, four wounded in shooting attacks in Israel

One person was killed and four others wounded in multiple suspected shooting attacks in Israel on Sunday, rescuers and the army said.

Israel's emergency service Magen David Adom said "a man of about 30 was found with no signs of life and penetrating wounds" near the community of Tzur Natan, a few kilometres away from the West Bank.

At the same site, a man was "evacuated in serious condition".

MDA said it provided medical treatment to two men in another shooting, aged about 50 and 30 respectively, at a gas station near the town of Kokhav Yair.

It also said it treated a man aged about 30 in Tzur Yitzhak whose hand was wounded.

The Israeli army said that "following reports of multiple shooting incidents, IDF soldiers... were dispatched to the areas of Sal'it and Tzur Yitzhak a short while ago".

Police meanwhile said: "Following the earlier report regarding a shooting at the entrance to Kokhav Ya'ir, police forces conducting searches located the vehicle suspected of involvement in the attack and neutralized the terrorist believed to be responsible."

Israeli media reports said an attacker was still on the run and that security forces were searching for him.

Israeli army claims intercepting two projectiles fired from Lebanon

Israel's military claimed Sunday that it had intercepted two projectiles launched from Lebanon into Israeli territory, despite a new ceasefire agreement announced this week aimed at ending hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

"Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in the areas of Yiftah and Ramot Naftali, two projectiles that crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory were intercepted," the military claimed.

Israel and Lebanon agreed to a new US-brokered ceasefire on Wednesday.

However, Hezbollah has rejected the agreement.

Iran VP rejects claims of differences over negotiation proposals

Iran's Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref stated that all senior Iranian officials are completely unified on the country’s negotiation strategy, rejecting any claims of disagreement over the draft text or proposals being discussed, according to the state-run IRNA News Agency.

During a Saturday visit to Iran's customs administration, Aref said Tehran has been following a clear and coordinated negotiating approach.

He added that “the Islamic Republic of Iran has had a specific strategy in the negotiations, and all officials have pursued it with complete coordination,” emphasizing that there are “no differences regarding the text and proposals of the negotiations.”

Four Israeli soldiers sustain injuries in drone attack

The Israeli military stated that four reserve soldiers sustained moderate injuries in a drone strike in southern Lebanon, according to Al Jazeera citing the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.

This report followed one day after the Israeli military confirmed that two soldiers had been killed in combat in southern Lebanon.

According to AFP, since fighting between Hezbollah and Israel restarted on March 2, at least 29 Israeli soldiers and one contractor have been killed.

CENTCOM says it downed two Iranian drones in Middle East

United States Central Command said on Sunday it shot down two Iranian “one-way attack drones” in the Middle East after they “threatened” international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

“Earlier today, US forces in the Middle East shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones that threatened international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz,” US Central Command said on its X account.

“American forces remain postured and ready to continue defending against Iranian aggression,” it said in a post on X.

Pakistani minister says will deliver ‘special letter’ from CDF Munir, PM’s message to supreme leader

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Sunday that he is in Tehran to “deliver a special letter” from Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, according to Iranian Tasnim News Agency.

Speaking to the media in Tehran, Naqvi said he will also deliver a “message from the prime minister [Shehbaz Sharif] regarding the current situation.”

Israeli drone strike kills father and son in Gaza City

Two people, including a father and his son, were killed, and several others were wounded when a drone-fired missile struck Salah al-Din Street in the Zeitoun neighborhood on the eastern side of Gaza City, Al-Jazeera reported on Sunday.

The duo was rushed to Al-Shifa Hospital, but succumbed to fatal injuries. 

Al-Jazeera said the area borders the so-called “Yellow Line,” where the Israeli military has stepped up operations that have progressively pushed residents into smaller areas of Gaza.

The strike came hours after a separate drone attack on a displacement site near a UN school compound in central Gaza City. 

A tent near a wedding was hit; at least eight people were killed and 15 wounded, the news outlet reported.

Qatar condemns Israeli attack on Lebanese army

Qatar's foreign office has condemned Israel’s attack on a Lebanese army patrol that killed two officers and a soldier, in an official statement posted on X.

According to the statement, the foreign office considered the attack a “dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the sovereignty” of Lebanon.

The statement reiterated Qatar's support for Lebanon's unity and sovereignty, calling on the international community to compel “the Israeli occupation authorities to cease their repeated attacks on Lebanon” and to respect international laws and conventions.
