ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's armed forces shot down eight drones fired by the Afghan Taliban regime on Wednesday, thwarting its “cowardly attempt to target public areas,” according to security sources.
“Four drones were shot down in areas adjacent to the Torkham border, and four were downed in the mountainous border regions near Kohat,” the sources said.
Pakistan armed forces’ air defense systems remain vigilant and professional around the clock, the sources said. “All drones were promptly detected by the Pakistan Air Force’s active defense system.”
“The wreckage of the destroyed drones is being recovered,” the sources added.
The provocative firing in the Kurram sector of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border since last night—following Pakistan's successful destruction of terrorist hideouts operated by the Afghan Taliban regime—along with today's drone incursion, reflects the Afghan Taliban's state of extreme panic and disarray.
The incursion comes a day after Pakistan's security forces destroyed several Afghan Taliban regime outposts and hideouts in the Kurram Sector in response to unprovoked firing.
