ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the raising of the occupying power's flag within its courtyard by illegal Israeli settlers.
The settlers on Tuesday stormed the compound of holy site in occupied East Jerusalem amid escalation across the West Bank.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s foreign office on X, the reprehensible acts constituted “constitute a blatant violation of international law as well as of the sanctity and inviolability of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“Such provocative steps also risk further escalating tensions in the region,” the statement added.
The foreign office called for all possible measures to protect the holy sites under Israeli occupation and to end the impunity of illegal settlers operating under its patronage.
The country reiterated that it stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people, reaffirming its unwavering support for their “right to worship,” and the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders.
