ISLAMABAD: Kuwait's Defense Minister Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah called on Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to discuss regional security and ways to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation, the military's media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Kuwaiti delegation included Chief of General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Khalid Darj Saad Al-Shriaan.
"Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing institutional ties and expanding mutually beneficial defense collaboration between the two brotherly countries," ISPR said.
The meeting comes as Pakistan and Kuwait continue to strengthen their longstanding defense partnership.
Pakistan welcomed Kuwait's recent ratification of the Pakistan-Kuwait Defence Cooperation Agreement, signed in June 2023, describing it as an important milestone in bilateral defense relations.
According to Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement provides a comprehensive institutional framework for expanding defense cooperation. It covers military training and education, joint exercises, exchanges of expertise and other mutually agreed areas of collaboration.
The Foreign Office has said the agreement builds on a defense partnership dating back to the early 1980s and will further strengthen institutional links between the armed forces of Pakistan and Kuwait.
During the GHQ meeting, the Kuwaiti delegation appreciated the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces, ISPR said.
The delegation also acknowledged the "valuable contributions" of the Pakistan Armed Forces toward promoting regional peace and stability.

The two sides reaffirmed their resolve to further consolidate their historic and fraternal ties and strengthen an enduring, mutually beneficial defense partnership, according to ISPR.
The meeting also reflected the two countries' continued focus on regional security and stability, alongside efforts to expand institutional cooperation between their armed forces.
