ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top leadership on Sunday praised Türkiye’s national struggle and the strength of ties between the two countries as Ankara marked its 104th Victory Day.
PM Sharif hails ties with Türkiye
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish government and the Turkish people in a message posted on X by the Prime Minister’s Office.
PM Sharif said that the Aug 30 victory, under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s leadership, laid the foundations of the modern Turkish republic. He said Pakistan joins Türkiye in honoring that history and the resolve behind it.
He also cited the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, saying it had given the strategic relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye a new expression.
“The agreement brings Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia together around common security and collective deterrence,” he said.
The prime minister said that Pakistan would continue to deepen its strategic partnership with Türkiye across all areas, with a focus on the security and prosperity of both countries.
He described the countries’ relationship as rooted in “shared faith, history and struggle.” He expressed hope that their ties would continue for generations.
Dar congratulates Türkiye’s independence heroes
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar separately congratulated Türkiye’s leadership, government and people in a message posted on X.
Dar said Pakistan joins Türkiye in celebrating the anniversary and honoring Atatürk and those who died during the War of Independence.
He described relations between Pakistan and Türkiye as an “exceptional bond of brotherhood,” built on mutual trust and close ties between their peoples.
The foreign minister added that the relationship between Ankara and Islamabad has grown into a “comprehensive and multifaceted partnership.”
