ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, visited maritime units and the Creeks Area, a strategically sensitive tidal region along the border with India, to review Exercise SEASPARK 2026, according to the military’s media wing on Sunday.
In an official statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the biennial drill, which began Sept 1, is designed to test the navy's ability to move quickly from peacetime status to full wartime operations.
It said that these exercises are part of Pakistan's broader effort to maintain a credible deterrent in the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, regions critical for global shipping and energy transport.
This year's exercise focused on the evolving nature of modern conflict. It integrated multi-domain operations, which involved coordinating air, sea, and land forces. It relied heavily on unmanned systems like drones and autonomous vessels.
The drills also included operations in the information environment, a military term for testing electronic and cyber warfare capabilities.
During his visit, the admiral spoke with personnel and praised their operational readiness.
