ISLAMABAD: Pakistan security forces killed 49 terrorists, effectively thwarting any attempt to undermine peace and stability, the military media wing said on Friday.
“Over the last few days, Security Forces conducted a series of high-tempo, joint intelligence-driven operations along with Police, as part of a relentless counter terrorism campaign aimed at eliminating Indian Proxies, Fitna al-Khwarij and Fitna al-Hindustan,” the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
Pakistani authorities officially use the term Fitna al-Khawarij to refer to the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), drawing on a historical Islamic reference to underscore the group's attacks on civilians, security forces, and state institutions.
In the northwestern province of Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, twelve khwarij belonging to the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij were killed in multiple operations in Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai and Khyber Districts.
The ISPR said that during these operations, a large quantity of explosives, improvised explosive devices (IED), detonating remotes, weapons, ammunition, and motorcycles were recovered and destroyed.
“In Balochistan, thirty-seven terrorists belonging to Indian Sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan were effectively neutralized in ten intelligence-based operations in Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur Districts,” the statement added.
During the operation in Balochistan, a significant quantity of weapons, explosive drums and remote detonation equipment were seized and destroyed.
Separately, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari appreciated the security forces and police on carrying out these operations.
“Terrorist elements active with external support will never succeed in harming the country's peace and stability,” the Office of the President said in a post on X.
The president reiterated that operations will continue with “full force” until terrorism was completely eliminiated.
“The Security Forces of Pakistan remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defend the nation’s frontiers,” the statement said.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to security forces for successful operations against terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
PM Sharif further added that operations against terrorists are a manifestation of the professional expertise of the security forces.
The ISPR said that the sanitization operations were being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored terrorist found in the area as relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at “full pace” to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
