Pakistan’s PM Sharif to visit Qatar for key trade, energy talks

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Qatar this week for talks on trade, energy and regional issues, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday.


According to an official statement, PM Sharif will travel to Doha from Feb. 23-24 at the invitation of Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.


He will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar along with other ministers and senior officials.


The prime minister is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the Qatari Emir covering political ties, economic cooperation, energy partnership and people-to-people exchanges.


Officials from both sides will discuss trade, investment, infrastructure development and manpower export. The agenda also includes regional and global developments.


Pakistan and Qatar maintain close coordination at regional and international forums. The visit aims to expand cooperation across multiple sectors and deepen existing ties.
