ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi said on Monday that preparations for the second round of talks in Islamabad have been completed and foolproof security arrangements have been made for foreign delegations, according to the ministry.
He made these remarks during a meeting in Islamabad with Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Reza Amiri Moghadam.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the need for a sustainable solution through diplomatic channels and negotiations to reduce regional tensions.
Naqvi also briefed the Iranian envoy about his recent visit to Iran and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region.
The interior minister reiterated that Pakistan supports resolving the Iran-US dispute through dialogue, as a durable solution is essential for peace and stability in the region.
He said Pakistan and Iran share decades-old fraternal ties and Islamabad views its relations with Tehran with great respect and esteem.
Ambassador Moghadam appreciated Pakistan’s positive and constructive role in efforts to reduce tensions and promote dialogue.
The Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad were also present at the meeting.
Security in Islamabad has been tightened ahead of the expected arrival of foreign delegations, with the Red Zone closed for traffic and alternate routes announced for residents.
The first round of direct US-Iran talks, hosted in Islamabad on April 11 and 12, ended without an agreement but remained open for further negotiations.
