The deportation flights would be the first to Iran since the beginning of the mass uprisings in the country, which peaked in early January. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/trump-says-us-still-watching-iran-fleet-sailing-to-region" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" rel="noopener noreferrer">threatened</a>&nbsp;to launch military strikes on Iran in response to a crackdown by the Iranian government. However, he has since appeared to walk back those threats after he said Tehran suspended planned executions. The National Iranian American Council (NIAC) said on Thursday it had learned that Trump&#39;s administration was planning to restart deportation flights to Iran, after prior removals in September and December. Abolfazl Mehrabadi, a diplomat representing Tehran&#39;s interests in the United States, told Iran&#39;s official IRNA news agency on Saturday that about 40 Iranians were to be&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pakistantv.com/article/record-3258-indians-deported-from-us-this-year-jaishankar-tells-parliament" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" rel="noopener noreferrer">deported</a>. They will depart on Sunday from an airport in Phoenix, Arizona, he said. Among them are two gay men currently being held in an immigration detention center in Arizona. Legal proceedings to prevent their deportation are still ongoing, according to the organization. The US Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to AFP queries about the planned deportations.

TRIPOLI: Seif al-Islam Kadhafi, the son of Libya&#39;s late longtime ruler, was killed Tuesday by gunmen who stormed his home in western Libya&#39;s Zintan, his French lawyer Marcel Ceccaldi told AFP. &quot;He was killed today at 2 pm (1200 GMT)... in Zintan in his home by a four-man commando,&quot; Ceccaldi said. Seif al-Islam, 53, had been seen by some as his father&#39;s successor, despite being targeted by a warrant from the International Criminal Court for alleged crimes against humanity. In 2021 he announced he would run for president, but those elections were indefinitely postponed. His adviser, Abdullah Othman Abdurrahim, told Libya&#39;s Al-Ahrar television channel that the four unidentified men had stormed the home before &quot;disabling surveillance cameras, then executed him.&quot; It remained unclear who was behind the killing.
