ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday praised the country’s security forces for their sacrifices during ongoing counterterrorism operations, saying Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3 has achieved significant success.
Naqvi paid tribute to five security personnel who embraced martyrdom in recent operations, saying the sacrifices of security forces were a source of pride for the nation.
“The security forces are the hope of the people, and the brave soldiers of the security forces are the leaders of the nation,” Naqvi said, according to a statement.
He said security forces were eliminating terrorists from Balochistan and that the nation stood united against terrorism.
Security forces eliminate 12 terrorists
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces in Balochistan targeted terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan, which is Islamabad’s term to describe the banned Balochistan Liberation Army, an India-backed proxy network operating in the country.
In the first of two operations, on Aug 5, security forces detected the movement of six terrorists in the bordering district of Washuk. All six were killed in the exchange.
A day later, in a separate operation in Mastung district, forces exchanged intense fire with another group of terrorists, killing another six. A terrorist hideout used in the operation was also destroyed, according to the ISPR statement.
The military said that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue operations at full pace under the "Azm-e-Istehkam" framework, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan to root out foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
