ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military leadership and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed on the 68th anniversary of his death, honoring his bravery and sacrifice in defense of the country.


In an official statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and the armed forces commemorated the anniversary.



They paid tribute to Major Tufail Shaheed for his “bravery, devotion to duty and sacrifice” in “safeguarding Pakistan,” according to the statement.


The military said Major Tufail Shaheed displayed exceptional bravery while leading his troops in an assault against enemy forces. Despite being critically wounded, he continued fighting and completed his mission.


His conduct in battle and sacrifice earned him the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military honor.


Prime Minister’s tribute
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Major Tufail Shaheed, stating that his sacrifice had created an enduring chapter in Pakistan’s history of defending the country.


According to the statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Sharif said that his bravery remained a source of pride for the nation and an example for future generations.


The prime minister said Pakistan’s martyrs were defenders of the country’s “freedom, sovereignty and national security.”


He also said Major Tufail Shaheed’s courage represented the determination, professionalism and commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to the country.


“The nation will never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs,” PM Sharif said.
