Pakistan PM discusses Middle East peace efforts with New Zealand counterpart

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon discussed the situation in the Middle East during a telephone call on Tuesday, the Prime Minister's Office reported.


According to Prime Minister's Office, the two leaders exchanged views on regional developments in what the statement described as a warm and cordial conversation.


PM Sharif briefed Luxon on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach aimed at promoting peace and de-escalation in the region.


Luxon expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, including engagement with Washington and Tehran, and conveyed support for the mediation initiatives.


In a post on X, the prime minister thanked Luxon and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, dialogue and stability in the region and beyond.

The leaders agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with existing ties. They also noted the role of the Pakistani diaspora in New Zealand.


Sharif invited Luxon to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time. Both leaders agreed to remain in contact in the coming days.
