ISLAMABAD: Pakistan marked Iqbal Day on Sunday, commemorating the birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal, whose ideas influenced the creation of Pakistan.

The country’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari issued statements on the occasion, addressing Iqbal’s legacy and its relevance to the country today.

PM’s message
PM Sharif said Allama Iqbal played a key role in inspiring a sense of self-reliance and hope among Muslims during British colonial rule. He said Iqbal’s message that faith, knowledge, and action were fundamental to a nation remains important.

The PM said the government is focused on improving education with the goal of providing youth not only skills for employment but also character development. He mentioned specific initiatives, including the Uraan Pakistan program, aimed at equipping young people with modern education and job opportunities.
