ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's security forces killed 21 terrorists in multiple operations across the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province from September 3 to 5, the military said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 10 more terrorists were killed in North Waziristan following an earlier engagement along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, bringing the total number of terrorists killed by security forces in border-related operations in the area since August 31 to 25.
In another encounter in the district, security forces engaged a group of terrorists moving along the Afghanistan border and killed seven of them.
Four more terrorists were killed in two separate joint operations in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan districts, the ISPR said.
The military said the repeated incidents along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border highlighted Pakistan's concerns over the use of Afghan soil for cross-border terrorism.
Sanitization operations are continuing in the affected areas to eliminate any remaining terrorists, while the country's counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam will continue with full resolve, the ISPR added.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for successfully eliminating India-sponsored terrorists in separate KP operations.
The prime minister said the entire nation was proud of the professional capabilities of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies for continuously thwarting nefarious designs aimed at undermining peace and stability in the country.
He said the whole nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in the ongoing war against terrorism.
