ISLAMABAD: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani on Friday called on the Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, and discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and enhanced bilateral defense cooperation.


According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, the meeting also covered the regional security environment and avenues for strengthening bilateral defence and security engagements.

Field Marshal Munir highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding fraternal ties with Syria and shared Pakistan’s perspective on global peace and regional stability.


He underscored the importance of cooperation and collaborative efforts to address common security challenges, the ISPR said.


The visiting foreign minister appreciated the professional role played by the Armed Forces of Pakistan in promoting regional peace and stability.


Both sides reiterated their resolve to strengthen bilateral ties further and expand cooperation in the fields of defense and security.
