ISLAMABAD: Five terrorists were killed while a security personal embraced martyrdom after an intelligence-based operation was conducted in Razmak, North Waziristan District, the Pakistan military’s media affairs wing said.

Pakistani authorities officially use the term Fitna al-Khawarij to refer to the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), drawing on a historical Islamic reference to underscore the group's attacks on civilians, security forces and state institutions.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday, the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the general area of Razmak, North Waziristan District, on the reported presence of what it said to be "khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna Al Khwarij.”

During the conduct of operation, five terrorists were killed, while, it added, Major Hafiz Ihsan Elahi embraced martyrdom, the statement said.

It added that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists, who remained involved in militancy against the security forces and law enforcement agencies as well as killing innocent civilians.

The statement said a sanitization operation was being conducted to eliminate any other "Indian sponsored Kharji" found in the area, adding that the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision "Azm e Istehkam" would continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
