Pakistan on Thursday reiterated "unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and prosperity" of Saudi Arabia, adding that the country stood "in complete solidarity" with its leadership, government and the people. 


Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said that Islamabad fully supported the "Kingdom’s legitimate right to take all necessary measures to defend its territory, protect its citizens and residents, and safeguard its national assets against any threat." 


The ambassador also reaffirmed support for resolving all outstanding issues, including the Iran nuclear issue, through peaceful means, diplomatic engagement, and sustained dialogue.

Speaking at a Security Council briefing on non-proliferation, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said Pakistan remains deeply concerned at the situation in the region, marked by ongoing tensions, hostilities and continued conflict


Oil prices surged with benchmark US oil contract, West Texas Intermediate, jumping above $100 a barrel, while the international benchmark Brent crude soared more than 6% past $107 a barrel, hitting its highest level since May as the US war with Iran continued.


The chief commander of the Tehran division of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Brigadier General Hassan Hassanzadeh, said the special operations units of the armed forces were in full readiness to respond to aggressors in any part of the country with lightning speed, pointing out that the country was shifting its military doctrine from the stage of defensive confrontation to an offensive one.
