ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday conferred its prestigious Nishan‑e‑Imtiaz (Military) honor on Lieutenant General Humaid Abdulla Alremeithi, Chief of the UAE Naval Forces. The award underscores the deepening defense ties between the two countries, as Lt. Gen. Alremeithi met with senior Pakistani civilian and military officials in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The award was presented by President Asif Ali Zardari during a formal investiture ceremony in Islamabad, held in recognition of Lt. Gen. Alremeithi’s exemplary service. According to the President’s office, his visit is testament to the enduring, fraternal bonds between Pakistan and the UAE.
“The President emphasized that Pakistan and the UAE enjoy extraordinary relations, rooted in history and strengthened through people-to-people connections,” the office said.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with the UAE to further deepen these brotherly ties.
Pakistan and the UAE share robust defense, trade, and cultural relations. The two countries frequently collaborate on joint military exercises, enhancing interoperability. The President praised the UAE Navy’s notable participation in AMAN Dialogue-25 and Exercise AMAN-25 earlier this year, and assured continued support for UAE Navy manpower needs.
Lt. Gen. Alremeithi expressed his long-standing connection to Pakistan, having completed a portion of his training at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, the presidency noted.
Separately, Lt. Gen. Alremeithi met with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), discussions covered global and regional geopolitical challenges. During his meeting with the PAF chief, both sides explored expanded collaboration through joint training programs and deeper military-to-military cooperation.
“The visiting dignitary expressed the UAE Armed Forces’ earnest interest in learning from the Pakistan Air Force’s operational expertise in multi-domain warfare,” ISPR said.
“He emphasized that the PAF’s tested doctrine remains invaluable to partners across the region and beyond.”
