ISLAMABAD: Six Pakistani soldiers were martyred while ten terrorists belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in multiple engagements between September 15 and 17 in country’s northwestern province.
Islamabad uses the term Fitna al-Khwarij to refer to the proscribed Indian-sponsored TTP, drawing on a historical Islamic reference to underscore the group's attacks on civilians, security forces and state institutions.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation on the reported presence of terrorists in the North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The military said that during the conduct of the operation, the forces troops "effectively engaged" the location of the terrorists, adding that after an intense exchange of fire, six terrorists belonging to the Indian-sponsored group were killed.
The military’s media affairs wing said that in a separate encounter which took place in the Hangu District, security forces neutralized four more terrorists.
Separately, in an improvised explosive device blast which targeted a security forces convoy, six soldiers of the military embraced martyrdom, rendering the ultimate sacrifice.
“Weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from killed Indian sponsored khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area,” the statement added.
The military said it was conducting sanitization operations to eliminate any other terrorists in the area as the forces continued the relentless counterterrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam.”
“These sacrifices of our brave soldiers further reinforce our unwavering commitment to safeguarding our nation at all costs,” the military said.
