Over 40,000 intelligence-based operations conducted in the country: DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary has said that 40,348 intelligence-led operations have been conducted in Pakistan this year, resulting in the killing of 2,084 terrorists.

Addressing a news conference at GHQ, Rawalpindi on Friday, the ISPR chief said that the figure covers operations carried out by all security forces, including police, civil armed forces, intelligence agencies, and the armed forces.

"This comes to an average of 10 terrorists being killed every day, which is the highest ratio ever,” he said.

"Of these, most were carried out in Balochistan, where 31,000 operations were conducted against the Indian-sponsored terrorists," he added, further saying that overall 3,145 terrorism incidents took place in the country during the first six months of 2026.

"Of these incidents, 1,971 were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,148 in Balochistan and 26 from other parts of the country," explained the DG ISPR.

He said that the state of Pakistan is committed to engaging directly with the people of Balochistan to ensure sustainable development in the province.

The DG ISPR said thousands of kinetic operations have been conducted to eliminate terrorism and such operations are still continuing. He said these operations are carried out in unison with the Balochistan Police, it said.

He further said that the security forces in Pakistan are undertaking 194 intelligence-based operations every day, meaning that these operations continue every hour of the day.

"Mostly Afghan citizens were found to be involved in these incidents and bombings," he said.

“There is a deliberate attempt to create the impression in Balochistan that the situation there is very bad, and the province is getting out of hand,” he said.

Ruling out any possibility of talks with the terrorists, DG ISPR said, “There will be no talks with terrorists; either they lay down their arms, or we will fight them.”

Chaudhary further stated that “819 Pakistanis have been martyred” in incidents of terrorism in the ongoing year, which came to four per day. This comprised 303 army personnel, 194 law enforcers from police and civil armed forces and 322 civilians.

He added that 28 incidents of suicide bombing took place this year.

He went on to say that last year a total of 2,597 terrorists were killed, while the number remained 2,084 this year so far.

The Director General ISPR said the security forces are taking out the terrorists of Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij everywhere, in the mountains and plains, according to Radio Pakistan.

He said the armed forces have an obligation to protect the honor, property and lives of each and every citizen of Pakistan, it added, making it clear that those who nurture and support terrorism would have to pay the price for their deeds.

Regarding the propaganda, he highlighted that over three hundred Indian websites are working on fomenting terrorism in Balochistan and said that 54% of the propaganda came from India, Radio Pakistan said.

Talking about the terrorism-crime nexus, DG said operations have been conducted against illegal economic activities that were harming the country's economy.

He said smuggled goods worth billions of rupees were seized during these operations and said that narcotics worth eighteen billion rupees were also recovered. 

He said certain elements were frustrated by these actions because terrorist groups have strong links with smuggling networks, emphasizing that a strong state cannot allow such illegal activities to continue.

He said a number of development projects worth billions of rupees are underway in Balochistan. Mango Dam, Kachhi Canal and the Pakistan Expressway are the key projects.

DG ISPR said that fifty-two dams had been completed under the 100 Dams Project, while 70 billion rupees were being invested in socio-economic development projects across the province, Radio Pakistan reported, adding that sixteen new educational institutions and two healthcare facilities were being established every month. 

He also said that substantial investment was also being made to promote shrimp farming.

“He said farmers are being provided loans under the Balochistan Green Initiative,” said the report.

DG ISPR said Frontier Constabulary West was being established to safeguard the mineral corridor from Chagai to Karachi. 

He said the capacity of the Balochistan Police was also being enhanced through the provision of modern training, advanced techniques, state-of-the-art equipment, and forensic laboratories, Radio Pakistan reported.

He reiterated that the state has made it categorically clear that there will be no dialogue with terrorists, adding that the militants must surrender to the writ of the state in accordance with the law and the Constitution.
