ISLAMABAD: A grand public rally took place in Panjgur, Balochistan, to commemorate Defence and Martyrs Day, with thousands of citizens attending to honor Pakistan’s martyrs, according to a statement on Tuesday.
Political and social leaders, businessmen, students and people from different walks of life participated in the rally, carrying national flags and banners and raising slogans in support of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army.
The participants expressed solidarity, unity and brotherhood while remembering the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives defending the country.
Speakers and participants said that Pakistan exists today as a free country because of the sacrifices of its martyrs, whose services and courage remain a source of inspiration for the nation.
The people of Panjgur reiterated their commitment to standing with the country and its security forces in defending Pakistan.
Participants said that the people of Balochistan remain firmly attached to their homeland and reaffirmed their resolve to contribute to the country’s security, stability and national unity.
The rally concluded with renewed expressions of respect for Pakistan’s martyrs and solidarity with the armed forces.
Event held in London
A ceremony was held at the Pakistani High Commission in London to commemorate Pakistan's Defence and Martyrs Day.
Retired Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, was the guest of honor.
The event was attended by British parliamentarians, senior British government officials, ambassadors, defense attachés, media representatives and friends of Pakistan.
In his address, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to the UK, Tipu Usman, paid tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan and to the sacrifices of martyrs. He said that the entire world witnessed Pakistan's courage and success during Marka-e-Haq in May 2025.
“Our Armed Forces, under the civilian and military leadership and with the unwavering support of the people of Pakistan, demonstrated once again the resolve and capability of Pakistan’s defense forces,” he said.
