The ISF also would work on the &quot;permanent decommissioning of weapons from non-state armed groups,&quot; protecting civilians and securing humanitarian aid corridors. In addition, it would authorize the formation of a &quot;Board of Peace,&quot; a transitional governing body for Gaza &mdash; which Trump would theoretically chair &mdash; with a mandate running until the end of 2027. Unlike previous drafts, the latest version mentions a possible future Palestinian state. Once the Palestinian Authority has carried out requested reforms and the rebuilding of Gaza is underway, &quot;the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood,&quot; the draft says. Russian objections Veto-wielding Russia has circulated a competing draft, saying the US document does not go far enough towards backing the creation of a Palestinian state. Their minds are delicate, like quiet rooms that need peace to stay bright. Yet today, those rooms are rarely quiet anymore. Almost every day, I hear the same concern from parents. They walk into their child&rsquo;s room and see a familiar scene: homework on the table, a YouTube video playing beside it, the phone buzzing every few minutes, a game notification flashing like a small firecracker. Sometimes the TV hums in the background. The child insists, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m studying.&rdquo; And in a way, they believe they are. This chaos has become normal. We adults call it multitasking, Children call it life, But the brain has its own opinion and it disagrees with both. What I Have Seen in ChildrenChildren today remind me of runners told to stop every few seconds. Start. Stop. Start again. No matter how strong the runner is, eventually they collapse. Their energy leaks away in little drops. One boy in Grade 6 once told me during a break, &ldquo;Ma&rsquo;am, I sit to study, but then my mind starts itching for my phone. I check one message and suddenly it is 40 minutes later.&rdquo; He said it with embarrassment, as if he were confessing a crime. But it wasn&rsquo;t a crime, it was a symptom. Inside the Mind: A Simple PictureImagine a chalkboard. You write on it, wipe it off. Some dust remains. You write again, erase again soon the board becomes smudged, unclear, hard to read. That is what happens to a child&rsquo;s mind when they switch from homework to notifications, from reading to reels, from solving to scrolling. The brain does not leap; it limps from one task to another, carrying the dust of the previous one. I have seen children stare at a single paragraph for ten minutes not because they don&rsquo;t understand, but because part of their mind is still sitting inside a TikTok video they watched two minutes earlier. Why Children Struggle More Than AdultsPeople say, &ldquo;This generation is smarter. They can handle screens.&rdquo; It sounds comfortable, but it is wrong. The part of the brain that controls focus the prefrontal cortex matures slowly. It doesn&rsquo;t fully grow until the mid-20s. Expecting a 12-year-old to &ldquo;just ignore the phone&rdquo; is like asking a bicycle to outrun a car. Children are more vulnerable to distraction. They fall faster, and they fall harder. A teenage girl once told me, &ldquo;Miss, I don&rsquo;t even enjoy scrolling anymore, but my brain doesn&rsquo;t let me stop.&rdquo; Her voice cracked not from wanting more, but from losing control. What This Looks Like at HomeParents often tell me, &ldquo;My child sits with books for hours but learns nothing.&rdquo; One mother described her son doing math homework with cartoons playing behind him. One father told me, &ldquo;My son sits with us, but he lives somewhere else inside his screen.&rdquo; What We Can DoProtecting single tasks is essential: short, 25-minute focus sessions can help rebuild a child&rsquo;s ability to sit still. This works best when the phone is removed entirely from the study area, because even a silent phone lying face down weakens focus.&nbsp; Just as important is showing children what real attention looks like when we scroll while they talk, they learn distraction, but when we listen fully, they learn presence. Some children say they need background noise. Soft instrumental music is fine. But screens, lyrics, and videos always take more than they give. Multitasking feels modern, but its cost is ancient:a child who cannot think deeply loses clarity, creativity, and confidence. If we protect their focus now, we return to them the one thing every growing mind needs a quiet inner room where ideas can bloom.

What does it mean? You tell me, I don&#39;t know... I&#39;d talk to anybody.&quot; Earlier Sunday, the US State Department said it would classify Cartel de los Soles (Cartel of the Suns) &mdash; which it claims is headed by Maduro &mdash; as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO). &quot;Cartel de los Soles, by and with other designated FTOs, including Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel, are responsible for terrorist violence throughout our hemisphere as well as for trafficking drugs into the United States and Europe,&quot; Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement. The designation, effective from November 24, follows a huge US military mobilization in the Caribbean which Washington states is necessary to prevent drug smuggling into the United States. But Caracas claims it is really a ploy to overthrow its leftist President Maduro, who the United States considers an illegitimate leader and a drug lord &mdash; a charge that he denies. Deadly US strikes Rubio reiterated an established US stance on Sunday that Cartel de los Soles is led by Maduro and other high-ranking officials &quot;who have corrupted Venezuela&#39;s military, intelligence, legislature, and judiciary.&quot; &quot;Neither Maduro nor his cronies represent Venezuela&#39;s legitimate government,&quot; he added. The US Treasury in July announced sanctions against Cartel de los Soles after it was classified as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity for allegedly providing &quot;material support&quot; to other Latin American crime groups. Rubio also said on Sunday the United States &quot;will continue using all available tools to protect our national security interests and deny funding and resources to narco-terrorists.&quot; Since launching the anti-trafficking military campaign in September, US forces have killed at least 83 people accused of ferrying drugs in international waters, according to an AFP tally of publicly released figures. The United States has released no details to back up its claims that the people targeted &mdash; in both the Caribbean and eastern Pacific &mdash; in the more than 20 strikes were actually traffickers. Experts say the deaths amount to extrajudicial killings even if they target known traffickers. The US military also on Sunday confirmed the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier was now in the Caribbean Sea for the anti-smuggling campaign &mdash; dubbed &quot;Operation Southern Spear&quot; &mdash; along with two guided-missile destroyers and other support vessels and aircraft. LONDON: Britain&#39;s interior minister on Sunday defended plans to drastically reduce protections for refugees and end automatic benefits for asylum seekers, insisting that irregular migration was &quot;tearing our country apart.&quot; The measures, modelled on Denmark&#39;s strict asylum system, aim to stop thousands of migrants from arriving in England from northern France on small boats &mdash; crossings that are fueling support for the anti-immigrant Reform UK party. But the proposals are widely seen as an attempt to counter a hard-right surge in popularity.&nbsp; They are likely to be opposed by left-wing lawmakers within Prime Minister Keir Starmer&#39;s embattled Labor government and the Refugee Council charity has already branded them &quot;harsh and unnecessary.&quot; The center-right opposition Conservatives also criticized the measures, their home affairs spokesman Chris Philp saying the government was just &quot;tinkering with the edges.&quot; Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood hit back, telling BBC television she rejected the idea that the proposals meant Labor was &quot;engaging in far-right talking points. &quot;This is a moral mission for me, because I can see illegal migration is tearing our country apart, it is dividing communities,&quot; she said. &#39;Block endless appeals&#39;Presently, those given refugee status have it for five years, after which they can apply for indefinite leave to remain and eventually citizenship. The ministry said it now intended to make people granted asylum wait 20 years before applying to be allowed to live in the United Kingdom indefinitely. It said the reforms would make it less attractive for irregular migrants to come to Britain, and make it easier to remove those already in the country. Mahmood&#39;s reforms will also include new legislation to make it harder for irregular migrants and foreign criminals to use the European Convention on Human Rights to stop deportation, the Home Office announced late Sunday. In a statement, Starmer said the reforms would &quot;block endless appeals, stop last-minute claims and scale up removals of those with no right to be here.&quot; Asylum claims in Britain are at a record high, with around 111,000 applications made in the year to June 2025, according to official figures. Benefits crackdown A statutory legal duty to provide support to asylum seekers, introduced in a 2005 law, will also be revoked, the Home Office said. That means housing and weekly financial allowances will no longer be guaranteed for asylum seekers. It will become &quot;discretionary,&quot; meaning the government could deny assistance to any asylum seeker who could work or support themselves but did not, or those who committed crimes. More than 39,000 people, many fleeing conflict, have arrived on small boats this year &mdash; more than for the whole of 2024 but lower than the record set in 2022, when the Conservatives were in power. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot welcomed the proposals, saying asylum seekers risked their lives crossing the Channel because the conditions they get in Britain &quot;are more permissive.&quot; &quot;We told the UK it was necessary to align certain conditions they give arriving immigrants with European standards,&quot; he said. However, Enver Solomon, chief executive of the Refugee Council, urged the government to reconsider, warning that the plans &quot;will not deter&quot; crossings. &quot;They should ensure that refugees who work hard and contribute to Britain can build secure, settled lives and give back to their communities,&quot; he said. Senior British officials recently visited the Scandinavian country, where successful asylum claims are at a 40-year-low. Refugees in Denmark are entitled to a one-year renewable residency permit, and are encouraged to return as soon as authorities deem their countries are safe. RAWALPINDI: Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Wasim starred as Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in the third and final ODI on Sunday, claiming the series 3-0.&nbsp;Rizwan scored an unbeaten 61 and opener Fakhar Zaman knocked 55 to guide Pakistan past their target of 212 in 44.4 overs.&nbsp;Fast bowler Wasim earlier took 3-47, while pace partner Haris Rauf and spinner Faisal Akram took two apiece to bowl out Sri Lanka on a slow-paced Rawalpindi Stadium pitch.&nbsp;This becomes Pakistan&#39;s fourth consecutive ODI series win over Sri Lanka, having beaten them in 2015, 2017 and 2019.&nbsp;Pakistan did lose opener Haseebullah Khan for a duck but Babar Azam joined Zaman to put 74 runs for the second wicket with both dominating the bowling.&nbsp;Leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay brought Sri Lanka back in the game by removing Zaman, Azam (34) and Salman Agha (six) in the space of 33 runs.&nbsp;But Rizwan and Hussain Talat, who scored 42 not out, dove Pakistan past the target and to 215-4 during their unbroken 100-run stand for the fifth wicket.&nbsp;Zaman hit eight boundaries while the usually-swashbuckling Rizwan played an anchoring knock which featured just four hits to the rope.&nbsp;Vandersay finished with 3-42 but did not get any support from the other bowlers.&nbsp;For Pakistan skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi, it was his second series win as captain after beating South Africa 2-1 earlier this month.&nbsp;Sri Lanka lost the first two ODIs in Rawalpindi and started the final match on a bad note when skipper Charith Asalanka was ruled out with a fever.&nbsp;Sadeera Samarawickrama, who top-scored with 48, added 43 for the third wicket with stand-in captain Kusal Mendis (34), but the innings then fell away badly.&nbsp;Pathum Nissanka scored 24 and Kamil Mishara made 29 but both openers were dismissed in quick succession by the combination of Rauf and Wasim.&nbsp;Akram, playing his first international in a year, dismissed Kamindu Mendis for 10 and then Samarawickrama as the tourists slumped from 143-4 to 193-8.&nbsp;Debutant Pavan Rathnayake hit a fighting 32 with a six and two boundaries before he was the last man to go, run out trying to grab a quick second.&nbsp;The two sides will next engage in a T20 tri-series alongside Zimbabwe, beginning November 18.

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final ODI to seal a 3-0 series sweep. Rizwan and Wasim starred as Sri Lanka were dismissed for 211 amid tight bowling.
