ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem would participate in the Javelin throw final in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Friday, determined to repeat history and win the gold medal for the country.

The Commonwealth Games, held every four years, brings together athletes from 71 countries and territories in the British Commonwealth.
Nadeem, who holds the Olympic and Asian record set in Paris 2024, qualified in seventh place on Thursday after securing his seasonal best throw of 78.63 meters.
While speaking to the Associated Press of Pakistan earlier this month, Nadeem said he broke the record for the games four years ago and was in a similar position this time around.
“There is also pressure [on me] that I have been the champion for four years, and now I will need to do well again [to retain the title],” he said.
He said that the competition was going to be tough this time, however, he was prepared for it.
“There is always pressure while entering the field; only then that pressure has to be controlled,” he said.
Born in Mian Channu in 1997, secured the gold medal for Pakistan in the Paris Olympics in 2024 by breaking the record with his 92.97-meter throw.
Nadeem will face off against India’s Neeraj Chopra and Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga, who sits atop the rankings with an 82.84-meter throw in the qualification round.
