Pakistan, Somalia vow to strengthen bilateral defense and security cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met a high-level Somali delegation led by Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi to discuss matters of mutual interest and regional security dynamics at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the military media wing said on Thursday.

“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and measures to further enhance bilateral defense and security cooperation were discussed,” the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.

Both dignitaries underscored the importance of deepening military-to-military ties and capacity building initiatives to counter common security challenges.

CDF Munir reaffirmed “Pakistan's commitment” to supporting Somalia in strengthening its security apparatus and fostering enduring peace in the region.

“The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support and the professional role played by the Pakistan Armed Forces in promoting regional peace and stability,” the statement concluded.
