ISLAMABAD: Pakistan forces killed 14 Indian-sponsored terrorists who were planning to attack a police station in the Naal area of District Basima, Balochistan, in an intelligence-based operation, the military's media wing said.
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on June 8, intelligence reports were received regarding the presence of terrorists belonging to what it called an “Indian proxy, Fitna al Hindustan,” in the Naal area of District Basima, Balochistan.
“The terrorists were reportedly planning to attack a nearby police station and banks in the area,” said the statement.
The ISPR said that on receipt of the information, “swift action was undertaken” by security forces, and an intelligence-based operation was launched.
After an intense exchange of fire, 14 Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed, while multiple terrorists were injured, according to the statement.
The ISPR said that four vehicles being used by the terrorists and improvised explosive devices were also destroyed.
It said that Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbass, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.
The statement further said that sanitization operations were being conducted to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored terrorists in the area.
As part of its ongoing campaign against terrorist groups, last week, Pakistan security forces also killed six terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in Panjgur District of Balochistan, the military’s media wing said.
The statement added that weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices and vehicles were also recovered from the killed terrorists.
It said that those killed had been actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.
“The operation was conducted on the reported presence of terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy, Fitna al Hindustan,” said the statement.
President, PM appreciate security forces
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the security forces for conducting a successful intelligence-based operation against terrorists, reported APP.
The president said that the timely and effective operation reflected the professionalism of the state institutions and the nation’s unwavering resolve against terrorism.
Both the president and the prime minister, while lauding the security forces for eliminating the terrorists, paid tribute to Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbass of the Pakistan Army, who embraced martyrdom while fighting the terrorists.
The PM said that under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, the security forces were achieving major successes in the fight against terrorism, the APP reported.
